City Soundscapes Walks

Regular walks with registration. What do Munich's green spaces sound like, and how does this relate to our well-being? This question is being investigated as part of the CitySoundscapes project with so-called listening walks. Small groups of test subjects walk along defined routes, consciously perceiving the acoustic environment and sharing their impressions via an Online. On some randomly selected dates, the participants' cortisol levels are also measured using a saliva sample to record physical recovery effects.

The audio walks will take place between May 2025 and April 2026 in the three districts of Harlaching, Au, and Neuperlach. All data collected will be used anonymously and exclusively for research purposes.

The walks are approximately 1.5 km long and take around 90 minutes.
Participants must be aged 18 or over, have normal hearing (hearing aids are permitted), and be fit enough to walk.
