umBlättern - Plant Textile Prints

As part of the BlütenLust cultural weekend, artist Monika Lorenz is offering a workshop for children and adults.
Ecoprint is pure magic: plant parts such as leaves, bark or flowers are placed on the material prepared for dyeing, rolled up tightly and then steamed or boiled in a dye bath. This extracts the natural dyes from the plants and allows them to be permanently conjured up on paper and fabric. What remains is a pile of leaves that end up on the compost heap.
The joy of experimentation is at the forefront of this technique, as there is little control over the process, but the variables are enormous. Season, site conditions, weather influences, harvest time of the plants, as well as the variety of different materials in combination with the preparation through different staining methods make this technique never completely predictable and therefore always fascinating.
In this workshop, paper and old bed sheets that have already been prepared for the dyeing process with non-toxic stains are given a new look.
Tip: Please wear non-sensitive clothing.
