Together with the steering committee, the office is responsible for the strategic, conceptual and operational work within the Science Communication Hub. It implements approved projects together with the institutions represented in the steering committee.

AHA - The Science Communication Hub, Managing Director

Ulrike Rehwagen has headed the office of AHA - The Science Communication Hub based at the BAdW since January 2024. The business graduate and Ph.D. in art history headed the BIOTOPIA - Naturkundemuseum Bayern development team from 2016 to 2024 and previously worked as a scientific advisor to the former President of the Technical University of Munich, as a scientific advisor to the Director General of the Dresden State Art Collections and as commercial director of the Kunstverein München. She studied in Freiburg i. Br., Munich, Madison Wisconsin (USA) and Bologna (Italy). Ulrike Rehwagen has been a lecturer at the TUM School of Social Sciences and Technology for over ten years. The Munich native has extensive experience in science management, science communication, and a vast network in the museum, media, and science sectors. She has also served as a jury member for the funding award of the City of Munich.

Marius Bruer studied biochemistry in Hanover and then conducted research in the field of molecular biology at the University of Heidelberg and the Medical Faculty of Mannheim. After completing his doctorate, he switched to science communication and worked as a science writer at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg from 2020 to 2022. He then spent two years as part of the Communications team at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Intelligence in Martinsried and Seewiesen.

After holding positions in marketing/CRM/direct marketing at ArabellaSheraton Hotelmanagement GmbH and Expedia, Nina Sailer worked for many years in catering management at Gasteig München GmbH, where she was responsible for the further development of the entire catering area, the relocation of the area to Gasteig HP8 and the planning and implementation of major events. She was also self-employed for several years: With her agency HÖHENLUFT Alpine Events, she designed and implemented creative concepts for events of various sizes in the mountains for companies and worked as a project manager in the planning and organization of major projects for an event agency. She has been the event manager at the Science Communication Hub office since September 2024.

Paulina Schaaf is an officer in the office and has a background in communication and project coordination, with degrees in journalism (B.S.) and intercultural communication and cooperation (M.A.). Prior to her current role, she worked as a project coordinator for the Munich Science Communication Lab (MSCL) at LMU, where she promoted communication activities to advance the public discourse on planetary health. Her career has been shaped by a variety of experiences, from teaching Intercultural Communication and English at Munich University of Applied Sciences to managing communication initiatives at global companies in the EMEA region. Originally from Brazil and the United States, Paulina Schaaf has lived in Munich for ten years.

Katja Vater studied sociology at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität and works strategically and operationally in the field of digital communication and online marketing. As a product manager at Süddeutsche Zeitung Digitale Medien, she further developed the area of editorial newsletters and developed and was responsible for digital communication for the start of the 20/21 artistic directorship at the Münchner Kammerspiele. As an R&D Fellow at Media Lab Bayern, she conducted research on the topic of "Knowledge & Content".
