Together with the steering committee, the office is responsible for the strategic, conceptual and operational work within the Science Communication Hub. It implements approved projects together with the institutions represented in the steering committee.

Dr. Christoph Egle

Dr. Christoph Egle will become Scientific Director of AHA – The Science Communication Hub on January 1, 2026. He has many years of experience in the German science system – particularly at the interfaces between science, politics, and society – and in target group-specific science communication.
After various positions in research and teaching at the universities of Heidelberg and Frankfurt/Main as well as LMU Munich, the political scientist with a doctorate moved into scientific policy consulting and science management. At the German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech), he headed the office of the German government's innovation dialogue until 2018. He then worked as head of the department for digital future technologies in the Bavarian State Chancellery and the Bavarian State Ministry of Digital Affairs. From there, Christoph Egle moved to the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities BAdW), where he helped establish the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation (bidt) as its managing director until the end of 2025.

Marius Bruer studied biochemistry in Hanover and then conducted research in the field of molecular biology at the University of Heidelberg and the Medical Faculty of Mannheim. After completing his doctorate, he switched to science communication and worked as a science writer at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg from 2020 to 2022. He then spent two years as part of the Communications team at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Intelligence in Martinsried and Seewiesen.

After holding positions in marketing/CRM/direct marketing at ArabellaSheraton Hotelmanagement GmbH and Expedia, Nina Sailer worked for many years in catering management at Gasteig München GmbH, where she was responsible for the further development of the entire catering area, the relocation of the area to Gasteig HP8 and the planning and implementation of major events. She was also self-employed for several years: With her agency HÖHENLUFT Alpine Events , she designed and implemented creative concepts for Events of various sizes in the mountains for companies and worked as a project manager in the planning and organization of major projects for an event agency. She has been the event manager at the Science Communication Hub office since September 2024.

Paulina Schaaf

Paulina Schaaf is an officer in the office and has a background in communication and project coordination, with degrees in journalism (B.S.) and intercultural communication and cooperation (M.A.). Prior to her current role, she worked as a project coordinator for the Munich Science Communication Lab (MSCL) at LMU, where she promoted communication activities to advance the public discourse on planetary health. Her professional trajectory has been shaped by diverse experiences, from teaching Intercultural Communication and English at Munich University of Applied Sciences to managing communication initiatives at global companies in the EMEA region. Originally from Brazil and the United States, Paulina Schaaf has lived in Munich for ten years.

Nadine Hoffmann

Nadine Hoffmann

Nadine Hoffmann joined the AHA team in September 2025 and is primarily responsible for the websites and the monthly AHA Newsletter. After graduating with a degree in cultural studies from the University of Passau, she trained as a PR consultant at a Munich-based PR agency. She then worked as a marketing consultant for a software provider for six years. In 2012, Nadine Hoffmann started her own business as a freelance copywriter and editor and has since worked with a wide range of clients, particularly in the fields of IT, high-tech, plant engineering, and science communication.
