Munich, June 15, 2026: AHA – The Science Communication Hub the “AHA Super Science Summer Club” for the first time at the Zamanand Festival on June 20 and 21 in Munich. At the equestrian statue of King Ludwig I near Odeonsplatz, visitors of all ages can experience the latest research in an entertaining way across nearly 400 square meters. The topics come from scientific institutions in the greater Munich area and are as diverse as the institutions in the AHA network itself: From quantum physics, space travel, and energy supply to health, sustainability, archaeology, and dialect research, the audience can immerse themselves in a wide range of subjects. “In this way, we’re literally bringing the strength and diversity of science in Munich out onto the streets,” says Dr. Christoph Egle, scientific director of AHA. “We spark interest and enthusiasm for scientific topics and show that science can also be fun and entertaining—and that it has a lot to do with our everyday lives,” Egle continues.
Harald Lesch Live on Stage During Prime Time
A highlight at the central AHA Entertainment Space is the appearance by Prof. Dr. Harald Lesch—on Saturday evening during prime time (June 20, 6:30 p.m.). The LMU professor, physicist, and science journalist will give a short talk on the topic “Where Will the Energy of the Future Come From?”
In addition, the stage program—which runs for several hours on both days of the festival—presents science in a variety of ways and appeals to all segments of the festival audience, featuring science slam battles, puppet shows, creative dance performances, short talks, and musical interludes. Researchers offer insights into their daily work, and current topics—such as the debate over a potential social media ban for children and teenagers—are also addressed.
Hands-On Research at the AHA Knowledge Islands
Try it out, get involved, and play—that’s the motto at the AHA Knowledge Islands: In five pavilions, research projects and student initiatives present themselves and their work. VR headsets allow visitors to take virtual tours of Baroque ceiling paintings. Objects such as a mini-satellite and the capsule of a stratospheric balloon can be admired up close. And on the Health Island, guests learn how healthy eating supports gut health, how an exoskeleton could help people with spinal cord injuries in the future, and why sleep is so important for human health.
A Fun-Filled Children's Program Full of Games and Wonders
The participating organizations have also put together a packed program of activities for our youngest guests, designed to introduce them to scientific topics through play. The program includes, among other things, a puppet show on the topics of energy, light, and colors; audio stories about famous researchers; and numerous science-themed games and arts-and-crafts activities. Who can beat the automated foosball machine? We’ll find out at the games area.
