acatech on Tuesday: Music, Science, and Technology – A Harmonious Journey Through Two Centuries
In his Lecture , Myles Jackson discusses Lecture harmonious relationship between scientists, engineers, and musicians over the last two centuries. Scientists and engineers have given musicians and composers new possibilities for sound production and aesthetic design.
Examples include Wilhelm E. Weber's research on adiabatic phenomena and compensated organ pipes, Hermann von Helmholtz's contributions to acoustic resonance and the Steinway soundboard, and Friedrich Trautwein's work on radio fidelity and his invention of the Trautonium. Another topic will be the collaboration between physiologists, physicists, and piano teachers—always with the aim of improving piano playing technique.
