Femicide: Historical and Contemporary Perspectives on a Timeless Phenomenon of Violence

  • Christina Clemm, a lawyer, has long worked as an attorney representing victims of gender-based violence. Her publications include the books *AktenEinsicht* and *Gegen Frauenhass*.
  • Maren Röger is the director of the Leibniz Institute for the History and Culture of Eastern Europe (Leipzig); she is currently working on a monograph on the European history of intimate partner violence and femicide.
  • The research group, led by Julia Burkhardt, is bringing a group of international female researchers to Munich, where they will spend a year examining both the historical dimension of femicide and its significance for the current debate on the issue. The planned event aims to highlight that femicide is a phenomenon that transcends time.

The event is part of the CAS Research Group “Femicide: Interdisciplinary Approaches to a Global Historical Phenomenon.”
