Artificial Intelligence and Education – Learning with and Learning Despite AI

As part of the vhs.wissen live online series, Prof. Dr. Ute Schmid will give a Lecture “Artificial Intelligence and Education—Learning with and Learning Despite AI.”

Artificial intelligence is increasingly becoming part of everyday life, the workplace, and schools. AI can help us with complex tasks, relieve us of routine work, and provide targeted support for learning processes.

At the same time, delegating too many cognitive tasks to AI carries the risk that essential skills will be lost or never acquired in the first place.

The Lecture how AI systems and their use can be designed to counteract the loss of skills.

Ute Schmid is a member of the Executive Board and the Executive Committee of bidt. She is a professor of Cognitive Systems at the University of Bamberg and has been teaching and conducting research in the field of artificial intelligence for many years, with a focus on human-like machine learning and methods for interactive and explanatory learning. Ute Schmid is a member of the Bavarian AI Council and a EurAI Fellow.

The event is being held in cooperation with Volkshochschule SüdOst im Landkreis München GmbH as part of the lecture series “vhs.wissen live – vhs öffnet horizonte.”
