Panel discussion: Mission Space – Luxury or Necessity?

  • Thomas Reiter served as an astronaut with the European Space Agency (ESA) from 1992 to 2007 and became the eighth German to travel into space. Until 2021, he served as ESA Interagency Coordinator and Advisor to the ESA Director General. Since January 2026, he has been the head of the Department of Space and Security at the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space.
  • Eva-Maria Kern is a professor of knowledge management and business process design at the Faculty of Economics and Organizational Sciences and, since 2023, president of the University of the Bundeswehr Munich. She is an expert in safety, security, and emergency management.
  • Dr. Andreas Lermann is the Managing Director of Munich Aerospace, the Bavarian research network for aerospace.
