How social media and AI shape role models
Alina Gales speaks at Kunsthalle MUC about digital power and how algorithms distort role models.
With the Exhibition – POWER – DESIRE," the Kunsthalle Münchenpresentsa thematically designed, cross-cultural Exhibition that focuses on the diverse meanings of head and body hair. In collaboration with the TUM Center for Culture and Arts, an accompanying lecture series will take place.
Hair is an expression of identity, power, and belonging—even in the digital space. But who decides which images of the body and gender are visible? Social media and AI systems shape our perception more than we realize. This Lecture how algorithmic processes reinforce, distort, or normalize stereotypical role models—and how these digital power structures can be identified and critically examined.
Alina Gales holds a doctorate in cultural studies. She heads the Diversity & Inclusion department at the Technical University of Munich and is a speaker on the social impact of artificial intelligence.

AFTERWORK
Every third Wednesday of the month, AFTERWORK takes place at the Kunsthalle München. Visit the Exhibition 10:00 p.m. and round off the evening with music from DJ Alkalino. There is a big raffle every time.
