Women and Otherness: From the Bible to Modern Israel

The author Sarah Blau has garnered international attention for her body of work, which offers diverse perspectives on the “unfamiliar faces” of Jewish women and Orthodoxy in Israel and beyond. Her fiction explores themes such as the lives of Orthodox women who choose not to have children, the myths surrounding female martyrdom, and the profound connections between the act of creation and the craft of writing.

In conversation with Dr. Ghilad H. Shenhav, Blau will discuss the evolution of her work and the ways in which she reimagines traditional Jewish narratives as modern feminist drama.

An event organized by the Center for Israel Studies (ZIS).
