Introductory Lecture: “Illusions – Like Swan Lake”

Ballet, Biography, and the Allure of Swan Lake
Lecture Swan Lake, Ludwig II, and John Neumeier’s ballet

Few ballets have left such a mark on the history of dance as *Swan Lake*. In his work *Illusions – Like Swan Lake*, choreographer John Neumeier intertwines the famous fairy-tale ballet with the life story of King Ludwig II of Bavaria, creating a moving psychological drama that blurs the lines between reality, dreams, and art.

In an introductory lecture at the TUM Center for Culture and Arts, Anna Beke offers insights into the origins of *Swan Lake*, the choreographic tradition of classical ballet, and Neumeier’s unique interpretation, in which the fairy tale intertwines with the biography of the “Fairy-Tale King,” Ludwig II.

  • Registration is Free admission for anyone interested.
  • TUM students are also invited to join an excursion to the performanceon May 4.A limited number of tickets are available for €10. The Lecture the perfect opportunity to learn about the ballet and its background before attending the performance together.
