Comics Meet Science: “Summherum” combines art and research and follows a wild bee on its journey through the city.

In this Lecture the comic “Summherum,” a story about a wild bee searching for a nesting site, created in collaboration between the Research Group for Urban Productive Ecosystems at TUM and a scientific illustrator. The project combines research and visual storytelling, thereby opening up new avenues for communicating ecological knowledge.  We’ll present the comic’s content, shed light on the needs of pollinators as well as current challenges, and discuss how we can support these insects. We’ll also provide insights into the creative process behind the comic and reflect on how collaborations between art and science can improve the communication of biodiversity and urban ecology. Lecture Language. The event is part of the accompanying program for the special exhibition “Planetary Health,” which will be on view on Museum Island through September 30, 2026.

Participation is included in the museum admission fee.
