What are the effects of climate change?
How do climate changes affect health, water, food, and biodiversity—and what solutions can science develop to address these issues?

Following the successful conclusion of the first Bavarian Climate Research Network, the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts will fund a new, forward-looking program starting in 2026: bayklif2 brings together interdisciplinary research efforts to gain a comprehensive understanding of the complex impacts of climate change and to develop sustainable solutions.
The selected projects address the key challenges of climate change in Bavaria. They conduct research in the fields of health, nutrition, water, and biodiversity—areas where the consequences of climate change are particularly visible and tangible. A particular focus of bayklif2 is on the use of artificial intelligence (AI). Thanks to state-of-the-art technologies, this opens up entirely new avenues for analysis: Machine learning models enable vast amounts of data to be analyzed faster than ever before, complex models to be created, and climate processes to be better understood.
