City Soundscapes: Audio Walk

What do Munich’s green spaces sound like, and how does that relate to our well-being?

This is the question we’re exploring in this part of the CitySoundscapes project. And you can help us! On our audio walks , you ’ll get to consciously experience the acoustic environment of various green spaces in Munich.

We’ll walk a set route together in small groups (5–12 people). Along the way, we’ll stop at various points and listen carefully. Afterward, you can rate the sounds you heard and share your impressions with us via an Online.

The entire audio walk takes about 60–90 minutes.
All data we collect is anonymized and used exclusively for research purposes.

On a voluntary basis, we also measure participants’ cortisol levels using a saliva sample to assess the physical effects of recovery.

The audio walks will take place in the three neighborhoods of Harlaching, Au, and Neuperlach through mid-2026.
