Diversity, Identity, and Fate at the Frontiers of Biomedical Science

This scientific symposium aims to highlight that scientific excellence is best fostered by researchers with diverse academic and cultural backgrounds, as well as multifaceted personal and professional experiences. The BMC Diversity Initiative has invited three distinguished Munich-based scientists to present their current research in translational optoacoustics (Miguel Pleitez), lipid metabolism and metabolic diseases (Susanna Hofmann), and oncolytic virus-based cancer immunotherapeutics (Jennifer Altomonte). They will also share insights into the key experiences and challenges that have shaped their research careers. “Meet-the-speaker” sessions following the talks will provide opportunities for questions and open discussion.

Program:

  • 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Scientific program
  • 4:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Coffee break and networking
  • 5:00 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. Meet-the-Speaker sessions

Advance registration is required for the catering and "meet-the-speaker" sessions. For more information, visit the BMC website.
