LET’S GET STARTED – Circulating systems instead of waste

Special Exhibition at the Museum of Man and Nature

Let cycles inspire you and discover the key steps toward a circular future

What if we used waste as raw materials for new products? What if we used products for as long as possible? What if we extended the life of things, for example by repairing and swapping them? That is the idea behindthe circular economy: reusing materials over and over again, ideally without harming the environment. Nature shows us how it’s done. Why can’t we humans do the same in the long run?

From straight to curved

For a circular economy to work, every single person is called upon to rethink their own consumption habits. Because whether it’s a new smartphone or a cool T-shirt—until now, consumption has mostly meant extracting raw materials from nature and turning them into products that are often used for only a short time and then thrown away.

This linear economic model leads to resource scarcity, growing mountains of waste, and harmful emissions and wastewater. This is not sustainable in the long run. By continuing to produce and consume as we do now, we are altering the Earth’s environmental conditions and jeopardizing our own livelihoods.

What’s another way to do it?

At the Exhibition , you Exhibition use interactive stations to virtually design a circular-economy-friendly sneaker, try out different methods of waste sorting, or get a glimpse of a circular future. You’ll find ideas and inspiration for how things can be done differently not only during the Exhibition, but also through numerous hands-on activities, lectures, and guided tours, among other things.
