Succu… what? The diverse world of succulents

Spiny, ribbed, hairy, water-storing, fleshy, thick-fleshed, spherical, flat, columnar—these are all characteristics of succulents. Among the best-known are cacti, agaves, aloes, and houseleeks. They have all developed amazing strategies to survive long dry spells, heat, or even cold.
The trilingual special exhibition (German–Italian–English) “Succu… what?” showcases the incredible diversity and fascinating survival strategies of succulents. It also features several succulent crops that provide us with popular fruits, medicinal substances, and durable fibers.
The Exhibition created in the gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle (Merano, Italy) and is on loan. The Munich-Nymphenburg Botanical Garden is displaying a selection of the exhibits.
