Ancient crustaceans, nature's survival experts

Suddenly, the puddles are teeming with life in the summer. Tiny, strange creatures seem to appear out of nowhere and populate them. They are freshwater isopods, fascinating little creatures with amazing characteristics. They play a particularly important role in our ecosystems and in science. Learn more at the special exhibition at the Jura Museum in Eichstätt , get to know these quirky creatures that seem like a greeting from Earth’s history. Some of them are actually living fossils; they’ve been around for a very long time. At Jura-Museum, discover what kind of animals they are, when and where they can be found, how they seem to appear out of nowhere in our puddles and bodies of water, and why they’re little pop stars.
